The anchor chart we used in class today supports students writing short responses. We’re gonna follow these procedures to make sure we can write a short response. Today students used anchor charts to enhance their writing and as a basis to look for evidence that would support their arguments. Many are created so that students can follow a process that will make them successful in any problem-solving situation. Anchor charts can be created for many different reasons. We are gonna use this anchor chart to help us write this paragraph.

It provides extra support to the reader’s thinking process. It is almost like having the upper hand if someone is already familiar with a topic. Having prior knowledge on a topic will help the reader comprehend it better than someone with no prior knowledge. Prior Knowledge: When a reader has previous experience or has already read about a particular topic, he will have some insight or knowledge to the topic before reading it. (Restate the question in your answer if using ACE.) A – Answer the question using prior knowledge and inferences. Provide questions and restate them together. Teachers: Practice restating the question with students. R – Restate the answer.Įxample: Why did Paul Revere ride through the towns?Īnswer: Paul Revere rode through the towns because…. Teachers who use ACE ask students to restate the question in the letter A for their answer. Teachers who use RACE use the R to ask the students to restate the question.
